Maximizing Your Energy Efficiency:
The Importance of a BER Assessment

BER assessment, or Building Energy Rating assessment, is a measure of a building’s energy performance. It rates the building’s energy efficiency on a scale from A to G, with A being the most efficient. The assessment is carried out by a qualified BER assessor, who will visit the building and inspect its insulation, heating, ventilation, and lighting systems. A BER certificate is then issued, which is valid for 10 years.

Boost Your Property’s Value with a Comprehensive BER Assessment

At Solis Green Energy we understand the importance of ensuring that your building is as energy-efficient as possible. That’s why we offer a comprehensive BER assessment service to all of our clients. A BER assessment is an essential step in the process of designing and installing a Solar PV System, as it provides vital information on the building’s energy performance.

During a BER assessment, our qualified assessor will visit your building and carry out a detailed inspection of its insulation, heating, ventilation, and lighting systems. The assessor will use specialist equipment to measure the building’s heat loss and energy consumption, and will take into account factors such as its orientation, size, and occupancy.

Based on the assessment, our assessor will then assign a rating to your building on a scale from A to G, with A being the most energy-efficient. The rating takes into account the building’s energy consumption, CO2 emissions, and renewable energy systems, such as Solar PV Systems. A BER certificate will then be issued, which is valid for up to 10 years.

Having a high BER rating not only demonstrates your building’s energy efficiency but can also add value to your property, making it a more attractive investment for potential buyers or tenants. Additionally, a BER assessment can identify areas where improvements can be made, helping you to save money on energy bills and reduce your carbon footprint.

We are committed to providing our clients with the highest standards of service and expertise. That’s why we offer a comprehensive BER assessment service, using the latest equipment and techniques to ensure that your building is assessed accurately and efficiently. So if you’re considering installing a Solar PV System, or simply want to improve your building’s energy efficiency, contact us today to schedule a BER assessment.

How Does Solar Work

1. Assessment

Remote assessment & Site Survey

Our specialist will conduct a remote assessment of your property gathering information through aerial imagery or building plans, and using this information to estimate the potential for solar energy generation. A site survey will be coordinated to collect detailed information, measurements, available surfaces and to answer any queries you may have.

2. Design

System Design & Quotation

From assessment, our designer will determine the best panel orientation, tilt, and shading, along with the number and type of panels required for the desired energy output. Our quote covers equipment, installation, SEAI grants application and any necessary paperwork. Decision-making is made easier with our comprehensive quotation.

3. Install

Delivery and Installation

On the agreed date for the installation, a team of certified professionals will carry out the necessary work to quickly and safely install the racking system, solar panels, inverter, and other equipment needed to generate electricity from your chosen PV system. Once the installation is complete, the installation team will test the system to make sure that it is working properly.

4. Saving

BER Certification and Welcome Package

If you are applying for the SEAI grant, a pre and post-install evaluation of the property will be required. Your home must meet a minimum BER rating of C3 after the Solar PV system is installed. Once the installation is finished, a new BER certification and our Welcome Package will be shared with you.

FAQ

What does a BER assessment involve?

K
L

A BER assessment for a home with a solar PV system involves an assessment of the energy performance of the property, taking into account the impact of the PV system on the home's overall energy efficiency. This assessment will result in an updated BER certificate for the property.

Is a BER assessment mandatory after installing a solar PV system?

K
L

Yes, a BER assessment is mandatory after the installation of a solar PV system. This is because the system will have an impact on your home's energy efficiency, which needs to be reflected in your BER certificate.

Who can carry out a BER assessment?

K
L

A BER assessment can only be carried out by a registered BER assessor. They must be registered with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).

How is a BER calculated?

K
L

A BER assessment takes into account factors such as the building's size, orientation, insulation, heating system, and ventilation. The data is entered into software that calculates the energy rating on a scale from A to G.

How long does a BER assessment take?

K
L

The duration of a BER assessment can vary depending on the size and complexity of the property. On average, it takes around 2-3 hours for a typical home.
