FAQ

What are the general requirements for the TAMS III grants?

K
L

The Scheme is open to farmers who:

1.Prior to submitting the online TAMS III application have a minimum of 5 hectares of owned, leased or rented lands which has been declared under the Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) and the Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) or equivalent in the year of application or preceding year, or in the case of intensive enterprises, generate a minimum of 20 production units from farming.
2. Have a Department identifier.

Please contact us for more information.

Can I sell the energy surplus if I benefit from the TAMS III grants?

K
L
In the case of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels, 100% of the electricity generated from the panels must be consumed on the applicant’s holding which includes the dwelling house on the holding for farming purposes. It is not permitted to use the electricity generated for commercial or non-farming consumption or to export the electricity generated (with the exception of use in the applicant’s dwelling house on the holding).

Can I combine the TAMS III grants with other SEAI grants?

K
L
The maximum size of PV panels eligible for grant aid is 62kW. A TAMS III applicant may install larger, but at their own cost. If the applicant wishes to apply for non-TAMS support (e.g., SEAI) for a larger area of panels, the TAMS III unit must be an isolated and discrete system if this additional support is being sought.

How long will it take to recoup my investment?

K
L
The payback period for a commercial PV system can also vary depending on several factors such as the size of the system, the amount of energy consumed by the business, and the cost of electricity in the area. However, with the current cost of electricity and the available grants, many businesses can expect to recoup their investment within 4-7 years.
